It’s that time of the year again – the Christmas food and decorations are out in the stores and the Coca Cola Christmas advert is on the TV! I get SO excited for Christmas and I like to spend the majority of November planning it, just so it makes December extra special and less stressful. Whilst I like to plan gifts, I’m also a bit extra in the sense that I like to plan activities and festive movie nights to do in the run up to Christmas. I find it so much fun reading magazines/books for inspiration and then making a pretty bullet journal page on it. In this blog post, I thought I’d share a few tips on how I plan for Christmas.
Christmas Magazines –
It’s become a bit of a tradition that evey November I buy/collect loads of Christmas magazines to read thorughout the month! A lot of the supermarkets do free magazines which contain some great recipes and interior styling tips. My favourite free magazines include the Tesco magazine and the Waitrose magazine. I also love to get the gift catalogues because it’s really helpful for if your looing to buy for someone,or, looking for yourself!
Christmas Planner –
Whilst I love the Cath Kidston planner, it is quite expensive so I thought last year I’d make my own. It’s really simple – I literally got an old notebook and wrapped some festive wrapping paper around it and selotaped the sides. I then split it into 5 sections: food/recipe ideas, gift ideas, festive activities, things to buy and decoration ideas. I got out my red sharpie and made some pretty titles before planning! One of my favourite things to do is plan a festive activity to do every evening. I have attatched a printable version of some ideas to do in the run up to Christmas below or you can download it here.
Christmas Recipe/Planning Books –
I love having books to read in Novembe which helps me to plan Christmas. Here are my three fav:
- Tanya’s Christmas – it’s essentialy a book DEDICATED to Christmas! It contains sections on getting into the festive mood; recipes for food and drinks; how to host and decorating tips.
- Cordially Invited – Whilst this book isn’t dedicated to Christmas, it contains a good Christmas section! It has a really helpful festive to-do list; a couple of baking recipes; and lists such as movie ideas.
- Nigella’s Christmas – I absoloutely LOVE this book! It contains so many amazing recipes and always gets me into the Christmassy mood when I read it.
Christmas Planning Evening –
One of my favourite things to do in November is have a Christmas planning evening. I usually get out my red pens/sharpies, my Christmas planner, magazines and any festive books(Tanya’s Christmas is my fav). I then get snuggled up in loads of blankets, turn on my candle warmer, get some Christmas music playing, grab a hot drink and snack and start planning! It always helps me to stay organised and I have lots of fun ideas to do in December.

On the theme of all things Christmas, I thought I’d also share some exciting blog news! I’m going to be doing ’12 Days of Rebecca Rose’ where I’ll be posting festive content every other day in the run up to Christmas!
