You seem to be liking my ‘How to Host’ series so far, so I thought it was only right to do another one. I recently had a few of my friends over for a sleepover and I thought I’d take a few pics and show you how I decorated my room for it etc. It was such a lovely evening: we made pizzas, watched Netflix and ate LOTS of snacks. I think it’s really nice to be a bit ‘extra’ and add a few extra touches because it means that you and your friends have a better time and enjoy it a little more and it helps your guests to feel more at home.
I like to make my room really cozy when hosting a sleepover. For me, this essentially means covering my room in fluffy blankets and fairy lights! Firstly, I put two big therma-rests on the floor as a ‘mattress’. I then covered that in blankets and throws and then I scattered cushions on the floor and along the sides of my room. I then entwined fairy lights round my wardrobe and put some on the floor. I also put two mini tables in my room and put tablecloths over them. One of them was for the snacks and the other one was for the I-pad when we were watching the film. I also got a basket and filled it with magazines and games for as all to play and put it in the corner of my bedroom.
For dinner, I thought it would be fun idea to do a bit of a ‘pizza party’. I made pizza dough using this recipe. I then put lots of different pizza toppings in separate bowls (grated mozzarella, tomato sauce, red peppers, pepperoni, tuna, olives, anchovies, sweetcorn). It was really fun making our own pizzas and everyone got to make a pizza they liked (instead of having to pick off toppings they don’t like from bought ones).
- I baked a pink KitKat brownie, I did a blog post on how I made it here
- Strawberries dipped in chocolate
- Malteaser and popcorn mix
- Twirl and Oreo bites
I layed all the snacks out on a table in my bedroom. This worked well because it meant that everyone could graze on it whilst watching the film. I also put cardboard popcorn boxes on the side so everyone could put all the snacks in there – a bit like a pick&mix!
- Watch a movie – I think this is definitely a must at a sleepover! We went on Netflix and choose a film. We ended up watching ‘Home Again'(rom-com starring Reese Witherspoon) and I would definitely recommend.
- Do face masks
- Play card games/truth or dare etc.
- Read magazines
- Do quizzes
