I always hate when Christmas is over becuase I literally ask myself, WHAT NOW? I was determined this year to conquer the January blues and I thought I’d focus on giving my bedroom a cosy atmosphere. I was recently reading this book called ‘The Little Book of Hygge’ which was about’creating intimacy from to cosiness of the soul’ and ‘taking pleasure form the presence of soothing things’. Basically making your life about nice, cozy, safe and togetherness. I’ve made a few changes around my home to make it a bit more ‘Hygge’ and thought I’d show you how I did it!
Go Overboard with Blankets, Throws and all other Cosy Things – Although I already had a slight obsession with throws, it was even more of an excuse to get them out and cozy up with them! I have a little basket in my room that I like to keep them in and I also layered a few on my bed to give it more of a cosy feeling.
Light Candles and Use Fairy Lights –
I love how candles give such a cosy and relaxed atmosphere to a room. My favourite thing to do is turn of all the big lights in my room and turn on a few fairy lights. I have entwined some round my bed and around my mirror and it really does make my room a bit more homely and ‘Hygge’.
Wear More Slippers and Cosy Clothes –
There’s nothing better then coming in from a busy day and putting on some slippers and loungewear. I got a beautiful velvet pink loungewear set for Christmas and I wear it all the time! I also love wearing slippers, especially in the Winter when my feet are freezing.
Have more Hot Drinks and Bake –
There’s nothing better than a cup of tea to warm you up on a Winters day! I’ve been really enjoying herbal teas lately and hot Ribena. I find it really soothing and the perfect to enjoy with a TV series or Netflix binge. I also ind that in Winter I do a lot more baking. It’s really relaxing and rewarding and it makes the whole house smell incredible!

January 25, 2018 at 5:19 amI love cozy things like this! I’ve been wanting to put up fairy lights in my room for the longest time, but I have no idea where to put them. My bed doesn’t have a frame or headboard or anything, so I can’t wrap them around that, and I also have posters on my walls, so I don’t want to cover them up.
