Rebecca Rose Book Club: Feminists Don’t Wear Pink by Scarlett Curtis

Hi everyone! I’ve not done my book club for a while so I thought it would be nice to share one of my favourite non-fiction book that I’ve read recently. It’s such a lovely book and now I have a much better understanding on the concept of feminism. In this blog post, I’m going to be giving a review on this book and well as a synopsis(don’t worry – no spoilers). Let me know if you’ve read this book and we can chat about it in the comments!

Genre – Non – fiction

Length – 384 pages

Synopsis – A collection of 52 different women from all around the world writing about their views and thoughts on feminism through short extracts.

My Thoughts – I absolutely LOVED this book. I think this is the perfect book for keeping on your coffee table or downstairs loo: you can literally pick it up at any point and start reading and it will still make sense. The book has 52 different women talking about their views on feminism and I love how varied and different each extract in. The extracts range from ‘The Catastrophizer’s Alphabet’ by Kat Dennings: a short and humurous piece, critisising views on women, to Zoe Sugg talking about ’10 Things I’ve Learnt From Running My Own Company’. The book is also divided into different category’s which is perfect if you’re looking for a particular genre of writing. The categorys are Epiphany, Anger, Joy, Poetry Break, Action, Education and Further Reading. These different categorys are great because sometimes I’m in the mood for Joy or a Poetry Break but sometimes it’s nice to read an extract with real emotion and passion like Anger. Overall, I think this book is an absolutely necessary read for everyone, whether you are a man or a woman, because I think it’s so important to educate yourself about issues like feminism and the book gives you such a wonderful insight into the complexity of it.

Rating – 5/5
